    For the judges in our court system, 2014 is indeed a happy new year, thanks to their long-awaited judicial pay raise, which goes into effect this year. As members of the Massachusetts Bar Association, we can also take pride in the MBA's longstanding support, which helped push through this well-deserved increase. But we cannot sit on our laurels. Holly Polglase is a shareholder and litigator at Hermes Netburn O’Connor & Spearing.

Recently named the 2014 Defense Lawyer of the Year by the Massachusetts Defense Lawyers Association, Holly is a trial lawyer with 25 years of experience handling complex product liability, pharmaceutical, medical device, toxic tort, asbestos, general liability and commercial matters. Holly works as national and regional counsel for major national and multi-national corporations and manages a large regional docket of toxic tort cases for several companies.

Holly is a frequent speaker on issues related to her civil trial practice in the state and federal courts and writes for numerous publications. Holly is active in the Massachusetts Bar Association and is in-coming chair of the Civil Litigation Section. She has served on the Joint Bar Committee on Judicial Nominations and is a Life Fellow of the Massachusetts Bar Foundation Holly was named a Massachusetts Lawyers Weekly Top Woman in Law Honoree, is AV rated by Martindale Hubbell and has been a Massachusetts Super Lawyer annually since 2006.
