Development & Construction Practice Group - Prevailing Wage Law

When:  Sep 27, 2017 from 04:00 PM to 06:00 PM (ET)

The Real Estate Section is seeking members to join its recently-formed Development and Construction Law (DCL) practice group. The DCL practice group brings together attorneys from across the state, from both the public and private sectors, who represent or deal with developers, public and private owners, contractors, financing institutions, design professionals and others involved with development and construction.  The DCL practice group intends to periodically focus on public and private projects in Eastern, Central and Western Massachusetts which are of interest to both the legal community, as well as the general public.

Join us at our first western Massachusetts open meeting with our guest speaker, Barbara DeSouza Esq., Assistant Attorney General of the Fair Labor Division of the Massachusetts Attorney General’s Office. DeSouza is responsible for, among other things, prevailing wage compliance.

This seminar will provide attorneys with current information concerning various issues regarding Massachusetts prevailing wage law, including:

• What is prevailing wage work?

• Current prevailing wage requirements

• Prevailing wage violations

• Enforcement options of the Attorney General’s Office — Civil Citations/Criminal Prosecution

At the conclusion of the meeting, there will be a brief discussion to address, in greater detail, the DCL group’s agenda and focus, including its educational, legislative and legal publication efforts over the coming year.
