This program is perfect for newly admitted lawyers and for attorneys seeking to diversify or change their practice focus. The seminar will touch on several topics that are cornerstones of a sound real estate practice.

The topics will include:

  • IOLTA
    An outline of the requirements for opening and maintaining a client's trust account.
  • Protection of Clients’ Personal Information  
    An introduction to the Massachusetts statutes and regulations related to the protection of personal information especially in connection with mortgage loan documents.
  • “The List”  
    A discussion of “how to get on the bank’s list” of closing attorneys and what the requirements are for opening a conveyancing account.
  • Title Insurance  
    An explanation of the steps necessary to be able to write a title insurance policy.
  • Personal Information 
    An introduction to the steps required under the statutes and the Attorney General's regulations to safeguard the personal information of parties, especially in connection with a mortgage loan.
  • How I Did It  
    A candid discussion by a rising attorney on the experience of starting and growing a real estate practice.
