What Every Attorney Needs to Know to Prepare Clients and Participate Effectively in Mediation

When:  Mar 21, 2023 from 04:30 PM to 06:00 PM (ET)

Please join the Massachusetts Bar Association's Dispute Resolution Section as an experienced panel considers the different roles lawyers and their clients have in mediation compared to litigation or arbitration. The panel, which features two trial lawyers with considerable experience representing their clients in mediation and a retired Massachusetts trial judge and renowned mediator, will lead an interactive discussion of those different roles and stress the need for lawyers to prepare their clients for mediation and educate them about the purpose of mediation and its  likely outcomes.

The panelists will also impart recommendations to lawyers about working constructively and proactively with the mediator and the parties to find creative options for reaching a fair and reasonable mediated settlement. The moderator, who is both an experienced lawyer and mediator, will direct questions to the panelists to keep the discussion lively and informative. At the end, there will be a brief opportunity for members of the audience to submit questions.

This webinar will be hosted using Zoom. Registration is required by 4 p.m. on Monday, March 20, in order to participate in this program. After you register with the MBA, please look for an email from MassBar Education with the Webinar ID and password. The email will be sent before the program.
