COVID's Impact on Jury Trials

When:  May 10, 2021 from 12:00 PM to 01:00 PM (ET)

In this presentation, Dr. Nick Polavin will discuss how COVID has impacted the composition of jury pools and how attitudes of jurors have changed. Additionally, he will discuss lessons learned from the jury trials he has worked on during the pandemic regarding how different courtroom operating plans can impact jury selection as well as attorney and witness communication.

Presenter: Nick Polavin, Ph.D., Litigation Insights

Polavin has eight years of experience in jury research and the legal field. He earned a Master of Arts and Doctor of Philosophy in Communication — with concentrations in Decision Psychology and Social Psychology — from the Ohio State University. Polavin’s research focuses on how jurors process information, their biases and how they determine damage awards. At Litigation Insights, he uses this knowledge and experience in court assisting with jury selection, in developing themes and recommendations for trial based on mock trials and focus groups, and in helping prepare witnesses for depositions and trials.
