Open Meeting - Primer on Marijuana in the Workplace and Non-Competes for In-House Counsel

When:  Jun 13, 2018 from 12:00 PM to 02:00 PM (ET)
Associated with  BL In-House Corporate Counsel

The MBA's Business Law and Labor & Employment sections, and Young Lawyers Division, are teaming up to bring you an excellent, condensed two-panel event addressing business risk and employment issues involving licensed marijuana use, and the application of non-compete agreements to in-house counsel.

Why come? Ever wonder what you will advise as outside or inside counsel for a corporate client that has an employee taking medical or recreational marijuana and is not happy about it, or an employee who is taking it and afraid to let an employer know? If you are in-house counsel, or are hiring in-house counsel, or counseling an employer or an in-house counsel, what is the applicability of a non-compete agreement to a new legal or non-legal job with a competitor? What are the risks for various actions by the employer or in-house employee? In addition, what's happening with the non-competition legislation in Massachusetts, and what will happen practically if a version passes?

Bring a sandwich and give yourself a slightly extended lunch to get up-to-date, critical information on how to protect both employers, and their employees who take medical marijuana or use recreational marijuana; learn key information regarding the application of non-compete agreements to in-house attorneys; and hear an update on the non-competition legislation, among other information.
