Practicing with Professionalism

Supreme Judicial Court Rule 3:16 requires all persons newly licensed to practice law in Massachusetts on or after September 13, 2013, to complete a one-day Practicing with Professionalism Course.

As the only approved provider offering the course in multiple locations statewide, the Massachusetts Bar Association is committed to ensuring that newly licensed attorneys enter the profession in good standing by offering an affordable and convenient means of satisfying this rule’s requirement.

Specific topics covered:

• Your reputation is everything — how lawyers should act
• Ethics for the practicing lawyer
• Ethical pitfalls in internet advertising, firm websites and social media
• Introduction to law office management
• Professionalism in the Massachusetts courts

Course registration is $50 and includes the following:

• All meals (breakfast and lunch).
• All necessary recordkeeping and attendance reports to the Board of Bar Overseers will be handled by the Massachusetts Bar Association.
