Mindfulness, Trauma, and Nervous System Support for Legal
Professionals
This session offers an experiential introduction to nervous system regulation
through mindfulness, with attention to the effects of trauma and chronic stress
common in legal settings. Participants will learn simple, accessible practices
that support emotional regulation, grounding, and a sense of internal safety.
The focus is on cultivating stability and presence in both professional and
personal contexts.
Dr. Tracey Meyers, Psy.D., of Lawyers Concerned for Lawyers, has been
teaching yoga, breath work and meditation to individuals and groups since she
became a registered yoga teacher and certified mindfulness-based stress
reduction (MBSR) instructor through UMass Medical School in 2008. She also holds
certifications in yoga therapy, mindful self-compassion, iRest yoga nidra, and
Breath-Body-Mind. Meyers has authored several publications and book chapters
around holistic behavioral treatment for mental health conditions. She is the
author of the recently released book Yin Yoga Therapy and Mental Health (Singing
Dragon, 2022).
