What is reunification therapy and how is it used in family court matters? This program will teach practitioners about what reunification therapy is; when it is used; and the challenges that practitioners, parents and judges face in cases where such therapy is contemplated and/or used.
This program will also discuss the varied nature of such therapy, challenges that practitioners face when representing a party who is involved in reunification therapy, and considerations that should be made in deciding whether therapy will be a benefit to your client and their case. The program will also offer a view from the bench to understand when a judge may order such therapy, as well as a view from mental health practitioners in navigating the therapeutic process both while a family is in active litigation and following the closure of a case. Understanding reunification therapy, and more generally, parent-child therapy is crucial for practitioners representing clients in custody cases, and in helping a family move toward a more collaborative and family focused approach.
This program will be held in person at the MBA, 20 West St., Boston. It will also be livestreamed. Registration is required by 4 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 29, in order to participate in this program. An email from MassBar Education will be sent before the program.
