The Only Program You Need
In collaboration with the Probate and Family Court, the Massachusetts Bar
Association is proud to sponsor the new Category D Guardian ad Litem (“GAL”)
training program for current Category D list members and for new Category D
applicants. This new training program will be the only program now offered
to meet the CLE requirements for Category D as established by the Probate and
Family Court.
The new training program will take place both in person at
Suffolk University Law School and virtually via a live webcast on Oct. 10 from 2 –
6 p.m. For those who cannot attend, an on-demanded recorded webcast will
be offered after this date.
Current Category D list members:
Everyone who is
currently on the Category D list and who would like to remain on the list for
2024 must take this course to satisfy the yearly education requirement as set
forth by the Administrative Office of the Probate and Family Court. A
certificate of attendance will be supplied by the MBA upon successful completion
of the training, including required prompts for the virtual and on demand
webcasts. The deadline to email your certificate of attendance to the
Probate and Family Court is Dec. 1, 2023. Current Category D list
members are advised to review the Probate and Family Court's notice of the new
CLE requirement here: https://www.mass.gov/doc/category-d-education-requirements/download.
New Category D applicants:
If you are interested in
applying to be placed on the Category D list, you must take this course prior to
submitting your application. A certificate of attendance will be supplied
by the MBA upon successful completion of the training, including required
prompts for the virtual and on demand webcasts. The certificate of
attendance must be submitted with your application. A direct link to the
Court's Category D application can be found here: https://www.mass.gov/doc/application-category-d/download/. All
new Category D applicants are advised to review the Probate and Family Court's
notice of the new CLE requirement here: https://www.mass.gov/doc/category-d-education-requirements/download.
