The Civil Rights & Social Justice Section Council of the Massachusetts
Bar Association is excited to invite you to a timely and important fireside chat
and discussion with four prominent civil rights leaders from the Massachusetts
Office of the Attorney General. Join us in person at the MBA on Tuesday, April
28, from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m., for this interactive
program.
Our distinguished panelists are Lizz Matos, chief of the Civil Rights
Division and senior advisor to Attorney General Andrea Joy Campbell; Dave
Cooper, director of the Police Accountability Unit; Ally Slater, director of the
Reproductive Justice Unit; and Donna Patalano, director of the Justice Review
Unit. The program moderator is civil rights attorney Richard Cole, former chief
of the Civil Rights Division at the Office of the Attorney General.
This program will emphasize the growing importance and vital role of state
attorney general offices, both in Massachusetts and nationally, in protecting
civil rights and civil liberties, promoting equal justice, and ensuring the rule
of law during these challenging times. This interactive program will offer
participants a unique opportunity to learn about the Attorney General’s Office’s
priorities, successes and challenges in its extensive civil rights litigation,
policy work and programming; criminal justice initiatives; and community
education efforts, including in collaboration with other state attorney general
offices.
Participants are invited to engage in a thoughtful dialogue with our
panelists, discussing how both the Attorney General’s Office and the broader
legal community can best address the unprecedented threats to our rights and to
the rule of law. Given the urgency of this moment, our aim is to motivate and
unite the legal community in the crucial fight to defend the rule of law and
safeguard our fundamental rights. We look forward to your attendance and
participation.
Space is limited. Once registration capacity is reached, the
MBA will open a waitlist for those interested in attending.
The registration deadline is Monday, April 27, at 4 p.m.
